Jeanie Marie Buss has been an American entrepreneur for over twenty years. She is the President and controlling owner of Los Angeles Lakers in the National Basketball Association. Buss is the daughter of a California born and raised in an affluent family. The father of her Jerry Buss was a real-estate tycoon who later became the owner of the Lakers as well as other sports companies. After her parents split up in 1972, she believed they'd left her. At the age 19 she became the General Manager for the Los Angeles Strings, a professional tennis team. Later, she founded the Los Angeles Blades roller hockey professional team. Before she became vice president of the Lakers, she served as president of Great Western Forum. Buss' father died in 2013 as did the Lakers were passed down by her as well as five of her siblings by way of the trust. Each of the siblings had an equal number of votes. Buss assumed the role of the president of the Los Angeles Lakers. Buss is also owner of a portion of Women of Wrestling (a Los Angeles-based pro-wrestling organization).
